The community council consists of a group of dedicated, passionate volunteers who support the EFA mission by providing strategic direction, implementing programs and services, leading legislative efforts, and securing long-term financial sustainability.
If you are interested in volunteering to assist the council on our various committees or have interest in council membership, please contact Darrell Chiavetta.
Darrell is the president of the Epilepsy Foundation’s Iowa Community Council and is responsible for coordinating strategic planning, services, fundraising, and legislative efforts in support of Iowans with epilepsy. He has been a member of the Community Council since April 2013 and president since July 2014. Darrell has worked for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for 19 years, where he is Director of Program Management. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication and Spanish from Buena Vista College (now university) in Storm Lake; completed language studies at the University of Madrid, Spain; and earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Iowa. The catalyst for Darrell’s engagement in the Epilepsy Foundation stems from the fact that he has epilepsy (generalized – three seizure types), as does his daughter.
We will be introducing the rest of our council members as information is gathered!
